Here is your chance to explore a very scenic and historic region with its rich blend of both colonial and Xhosa cultural and heritage /historical attractions.
Day1:
We visit sites of interest including Grahamstown and Bathurst, west of the Great Fish River, which was for many years the boundary between black and white in South Africa.
Overnight: Grahamstown
Day2:
Following the old Queen's Road we head for Fort Beaufort where a fine collection of weapons used by both sides in the wars can be seen. We also visit the Waterkloof, scene of some of the fiercest fighting in the 8th Frontier War, and Fort Armstrong.
Overnight: Katberg Area
Day3:
Leaving the former Kat River Settlement area, we enter the equally beautiful Tyumie Valley, where the fortified villages were attacked on Christmas day 1850. We also visit Fort Hare, Fort Cox, Burnshill, Boma Pass and the Pirie Forest where significant skirmishes took place, before ending our tour in East London.
